Spring is almost here, now is the perfect time to update your home. We all know that the modern home is always changing. Take a look at 6 popular home trends of 2015.

1. Energy – Efficiency
Home owners are becoming more interested in the energy and cost-saving home options. Take advantage of these federal and state incentives by visiting Energy.gov. These savings can be as simple as adding more LED lights to your home or even energy star appliances.

2. Spacious Floor Plan
It is becoming very trendy to knock down room dividing walls to create more open space in a home. Creating more open space can make your home look larger. It will also increase the views in your home while also increasing the amount of natural sunlight into the home.

3. Smartphone Home Apps
With everyone’s smart phones and tablets readily available at all times, programming your home thermostat, security system, and/or lights can be done at a distance. The cost for this has been dropping over the years and has gained much interest from cunsumers.

4. “Color of the Year”
This year according to Pantone.com, Marsala has been chosen to be the color of 2015. Marsala is a “rich but earthy red-brown” color. It’s a bold but neutral color that goes well with warm and cool colors like turquoise, teal, amber, golden yellow, and especially greys.

5. Comfortable Living
Gone are the days with formal living areas in homes. Most want to create a casual and comfortable living space. Adding sectionals to your living areas creates a lounging space for your family to sit back and relax together.

6. Sleek Kitchen
According to Consumerreports.org, “Manufactures are using new innovations to eliminate handles and pulls from appliances and cabinetry.” These appliances, kitchen faucets, and cabinets will use the “touch-to-open” or motion sensor features. Not only does this make your kitchen look sleek but they make it easier for the elderly or people with disabilities to use their kitchen.
